Lara Khoury is a multi-disciplinary experimental designer whose work spans and unites the realms of fashion and design.
Lara Khoury’s journey starts when she moves to Paris at the age of eighteen to embark on an enlightening creative journey at the prestigious Ecole Supérieure de la Mode (ESMOD). Immersed in an alternate hyper-fashion reality, Lara harnesses her passion for the arts and carefully hones her craft.
After a few successful years post her return to Lebanon, Lara decides to launch her LK ready-to-wear brand in 2010 and sets up her creative studio in central Beirut. In subsequent years, Lara is selected to represent Lebanon at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) in Marseille, France, and is selected as one of the 100 most pioneering young fashion designers by global fashion platforms, Woolmark and Not Just A Label.
In 2015 Lara debuts her bridal line, where the designer crafts sculptural gowns with exquisite detail. Lara also launches a menswear line where the suit takes center stage, adding yet another dimension to her work.
Since establishing LK, Lara presents her collections in Paris, Dubai, Ecuador and Beirut, garnering recognition locally and globally. Every collection encapsulates a message, something the designer cares about deeply.
In the wake of the Lebanese revolution, the global pandemic and the ensuing economic crisis, Lara launches The Secrets of Survival in June 2020, a project inspired by the unwavering resilience of the human spirit and the tireless resistance of the human mind. The Secrets of Survival is a DIY sewing kit where Lara shares her techniques, tricks, and secrets to her signature pieces in an attempt to shift power to the consumer, and establish a framework for autonomous creation.
On the 4th of August 2020, Beirut is rocked by explosions that wipe out half the capital. In seconds, buildings of priceless heritage are reduced to rubble. Lara’s workshop does not escape, and sustains substantial damage.
Shortly after, Lara sets off on an explorative journey to the corners of the earth that would heal her heart. And two years post her departure seeking the spark of inspiration again, she returns to relaunch LARAKHOURY. She shares her story of self-rediscovery, creative exploration, and unwavering passion for design. As she strives to ripple unapologetic confidence in her audience, her vision foresees far beyond fabric, and into the essence of being human.
